Synopsis: Joshua Sheppard is an aspiring, young musician who is currently studying Vocal Performance at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. Graduating highschool at the top of his class, Joshua looks forward to a promising career in Opera. His life's goal is to refashion the world for the better using music.
Early Life: Joshua was born in Millville, New Jersey, on September 21, 1997, to W Scott Sheppard and Suzanne Taft-Sheppard. Joshua took an intrest in music at a young age performing in local and school sponsered choirs. At 13, Joshua auditioned for his first musical playing Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka Jr. Joshua was an active member at his highschool. He performed with the New Jersey All State Choir, South Jersey Regional Choir, Madrigal Choir, and Chamber ensemble. He played Lumiere in Beasty and the Beast, Donkey in Shrek the Musical, Bert in Mary Poppins, and Phantom in the Phantom of the Opera. He was Drum Major of the Millville Marching Band, President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, President of the Go-Green Club, and a 4 year choir section leader. He was crowned Mr. Millville 2016, is a recipient of the Weinder Leadership Award, Bill Moore Racing Cup Award, is a 3 time champion of the ULS&TC sunfish sailing races, was inducted into the National Honor Society and World Language Honor Society, and is an AP Scholar with Honors. Joshua graduated as Valedictorian of the Millville Highschool class of 2016.
Growing Music Career: Joshua is currently studying Vocal Performance under Amy K Jarman at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. He placed 3rd at the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition in 2017. He is currently employed at the Church of the Assumption in Nashville, Tennessee performing every Sunday as the Bass Section leader. In the spring of 2017, Joshua performed as the Bass soloist role in Mozart's Corination Mass with the Vanderbilt Chorale and Orchestra. In June of 2017, he performed in Duino, Italy as part of the Internation Music Festival of the Adriatic. Joshua will be playing the role of Bartolo in Vanderbilts Opera Theater's production of The Marriage of Figaro in November, 2017.
