Five Delicious Ways to Prepare SlimFast Shakes

Updated on March 27, 2017

Using SlimFast to Lose Weight

Years ago, in my early twenties, I used SlimFast to help me lose a fair bit of unneeded weight. It was a difficult journey, but I stuck with it and actually managed to lose approximately eighty pounds in about six months time.

Over the years (I'm in my early fifties now) some of those pounds have slowly crept back, so I recently found myself looking at a can of SlimFast again. After discovering that adding a banana and/or a serving of yogurt to each shake makes the claim on the can that states up to four hours hunger control actually seem true, and makes an extremely tasty shake even tastier, this time 'round has been considerably easier.

My Top 5 Favourite Ways to Make a SlimFast Shake

Note: I don't use skim milk in any of my shakes. I really dislike the taste of skim milk, so instead I like to use 2% and mix it with water. It seems to retain it's milky taste that way and doesn't have that gross, almost cardboard flavour I find so disgusting with skim milk.

  • High in potassium

All According to Taste

All of these recipes are, of course, my own personal flavour favorites. You can mix and match your own favorite fruits, amounts, and yogurt varieties with any of the SlimFast flavours to make a shake that makes your own tastebuds want to jump up and say, "And a good morning to you too!".

Adding a banana to my morning shake gives it a wonderfully thick texture that sticks to my ribs a bit longer than without the banana. And if the banana is cold from the fridge, it seems to enhance that texture even more. I always keep them handy in the fridge now and although adding a banana to each of the recipes above will change the taste, it's absolutely not a bad thing, and it really helps me on those occasional days when tipping back the fridge seems far more preferable to drinking just another shake.

Almost Done

I'm not finished this journey yet, but I have lost almost 40 pounds to date, and with the help of my diet shakes, I know I'll be able to stick with it till I'm done. I also know that my plan is to keep using these shakes, even after I've reached my weight loss goal, not only because they taste great, but because I actually feel better after drinking one than I do after eating something heavy.

Now if I can just stop waking up once a week wanting to eat eggs Benedict and toast for breakfast......
