Garmin Vivofit Video Review

#5 Garmin Vivofit

Vivofit is known for its amazing battery life of 1 year. It has a simple and clean rubberized design. This water resistant, low maintenance fitness tracker tracks steps, distance, calories, sleep and heart rate. Heart rate monitoring is via ANT+ wireless HRM, so you will need to buy a heart rate monitor separately.

Another interesting feature Garmin introduces is that it makes you walk. A red bar appears on the tracker when you sit for an hour and glows every 15 mins. You need to walk a bit to calm it down.

Garmin connect is the default app which is very good at what it does. It is clean looking and easy to use. Vivofit syncs automatically with the app and upload to your online account.

The Always-On display is another feature worth discussing. This LED display is large, easily readable and remains on always. Only drawback is that it lacks backlight, it will be little bit difficult at night.

Vivofit’s user interface and navigation is very simple featuring a single button to control everything like iPhone. Once you get used to it, it is a lot simpler. The tracker and wristband are separate gadgets so that you can pluck out the tracker and fit it in other wristbands when you are bored with the previous one.

For the battery life and waterproof feature, Garmin Vivofit is worth the money.

Jawbone UP24 Video Review

#2 Jawbone UP24

Jawbone UP24 has a much simpler and cooler design than the others. You just stretch the two ends of the band to slide it on and off. The charging point fits into the USB connector and you can charge via computer or USB power adapter. Battery lasts for a week if mildly used. It features Bluetooth 4.0 synching with smart phones and other devices. Supports iOS and Android.

Jawbone UP24 is splash resistant only. You cannot swim wearing it. Some ads say its water resistant but it isn’t. It can track your steps, exercise, distance, calories, hours slept, quality of sleep, food and drink intake and nutrients. Another quality of the UP24 is its vibration alert. Simply superb!

Fitbit Flex Video Review

#1 Fitbit Flex

The main attraction of Fitbit Flex is that you will get a lot of accessories bundled with the device. The small and large wristbands (included) will be rigid fit for everyone.

Unlike other models, Fitbit Flex comes as 2 separate parts, the tracker and the wristband. You can easily change the wristbands for varying color options or when it gets damaged. But you will need to remove flex from wristband for charging. Fitbit offers USB docking cradle for charging otherwise you can connect it to a computer also. Battery lasts for one week on a single charge.

Fitbit flex competes with the Withings pulse and Jawbone UP24 for tracking features. It tracks steps, distance, calories burned, food and water intake, sleep duration and quality. Flex knows when you are running, runners can benefit from this tracker.

There is a 5 level LED indicator each represents 20% of your daily goals. To view details, you will have to sync it with a smart phone or a computer. You need Fitbit account to store and handle the data; it is free and easy to set up. You can also enter your stride length for better accuracy.

Fitbit connect app is an easy to use online portal with which you can set your goals and give importance to specific ones, then the app organizes and displays the most important first.

Another features that you may find useful is the auto-synching to smart phone and virtual milestones and badges.

The main drawbacks of Fitbit Flex are it lacks display and can be charged via USB only

How can you rank fitbit flex as nr.1 when it has HUGE compatibility issues with Android phones? Only connects with S6 and S7. No S8, Google Pixel, no Huawei Phones...

Just check their forums to confirm this!
