Vibration Plate: Does It Really Work?

I share my experience with the vibration plate. I used a plate to tone muscles and improve strength, mobility, and circulation.

What Is a Vibration Plate?

A vibration plate is a machine that is designed to stimulate muscles that are being worked by sending high-speed vibrations through the muscles and your whole body. Designed to stimulate your muscles at a much higher rate than normal, it is claimed to be a very efficient way to strengthen and tone muscle.

By holding different positions like a knee bend hold, using muscles while vibrating on the vibration plate, it is possible to target different areas of the body.

Vibration Plate Claims

According to Amazon's review, "Vibration fitness with oscillation technology uses almost 100% of target muscle fibres, as muscles flex and contract at an extremely high frequency, producing faster increases in muscular strength."

The Vibrapower active claimed to improve general fitness and to tone up the body, and that is what I needed to tone up my withered muscles and improve my general fitness. The claim is that this little machine can work to increase muscle strength and overall fitness without having to visit the gym.

The vibration plate allows you to exercise every part of the body, including biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, glutes, and legs, and relaxes the whole body.

Just using a vibration plate for as little as ten minutes a day is sufficient to improve your general fitness and increase your endurance.

The good thing about the plate is that when you have finished using it will store neatly away as shown on my image. Mine stored behind the sofa.

How Does a Vibration Machine Work?

Vibration plates work by sending strong pulses through your body, forcing your superfast twitch fibres to work at a highly inefficient rate—so you are using up lots of energy just to stay on the plate. When you use a vibration plate device, your body will make a huge number of involuntary muscle contractions every minute. In fact, the total amount has been calculated as being up to 3,000 each minute that you stand on the plate.

Why I Purchased a Vibration Plate

After a long illness and a lack of exercise, I lost muscle tone, and the skin on my legs and arms was becoming saggy. My muscles were weak, and my balance was not good. I fell quite a few times and hurt myself because my balance was so bad, and I had to walk with a walking stick. I also needed help to get out of bed or a chair because my muscles were so wasted.

I needed a way of building up muscle and stamina, and the vibration plate offered that.

I chose and bought the Vibrapower Active because it was not too expensive compared to some on the market. I paid just over £100 for my vibration plate.

Benefits of Vibration Plate Exercises

Strength and Coordination

I have found that exercise on the vibration plate increased my muscle strength. It is true that vibration exercise can also improve neuromuscular coordination, which means that for those with osteoporosis, the risks of falling and breaking bones are reduced.

Balance Improvement

Not long after starting to use the vibration plate, I noticed my balance was much improved. When I first used the vibration machine, I had to hold on to the back of a chair to keep my balance because of the high rate of vibrations. After a short time of using it, I could not only keep my balance, but I could do squats whilst vibrating.

Increased Strength and Mobility

There was a definite improvement in the strength of my muscles. My leg and arm muscles felt more toned and stronger as a result of using the plate to improve muscle waste. I felt an improvement in mobility, which enabled me to get out and about more.

Weight Loss

I lost a few pounds in weight using the vibration machine. I am not sure if it was the machine that made me lose the weight, or, feeling stronger and more active after using the vibration plate helped with the weight loss.

Different vibration speeds meant that I could have a gentle vibrate or turn up the vibrations for a more intense workout.

The vibration machine is great for relaxing all the muscles when tense. I often sat on mine and just let it vibrate away any tension that I felt. It definitely does massage away any tension in the body or muscles.

Circulation Improvement

My circulation improved a lot after using the vibration machine. I have Raynaud's Phenomena, which is a circulation disorder. I easily felt the cold and suffer dreadfully through the colder months with frozen and painful hands and feet. I felt a difference with the symptoms of Raynaud's after using the vibration plate for a while. My body felt warmer, especially my feet, after just a few sessions of vibrating.

The vibration plate was worth it for the effect it had on my symptoms of Raynaud's.

Consult Your Physician

The vibration plate should not be used by anyone who has or has had a tumour.

Consult your doctor before using a vibration plate.
