For those of us fighting a war with "the bulge," we know that we will try almost anything to drop a few inches. Over the course of time, we have tried pills, products, gizmos, hypnotherapy, holistic approaches, religion-based diets, fad diets, elimination diets, and now....slimming body wraps.
I will admit to you...I paid the $100 to try the fancy -branded body wraps. I was surprised to say that they did work but was saddened to find that the results were short lived and that my investment was going to expand. For best results, you are to buy special supplements and wrap yourself a few times a week. When it was all said and done, the supplier was asking for about $500 a month! That is not in my budget!!!
Since I like to think of myself as a DIY gal, I sat down to see what I could find online about these fancy wraps. The basis behind them is pretty simple. Your skin absorbs the special herbs and minerals and forces out water and toxins. Seems easy enough, right? With this information in mind...I began experimenting.
On my search, I found some recipes involving green clay. They looked easy enough and the price was right but I wanted to wrap now and I didn't have any green clay around! So...my search continued.
I was beyond stunned to find that I could make my own body wraps with some basic ingredients that I already had in my pantry! Nothing fancy, no special store trips, just basic ingredients.
As much as this stunned me...I was more shocked when I discovered that they worked! For the price of a cup of coffee, I could wrap my entire body!

From Pantry to Miracle...
The ingredients in this basic scrub are so easy to find that most of us have them around our home. This wrap will cost you about $5 and will last you many wraps! The best part (aside from the fact that it works) is that you can wrap any area of your body. I suggest thighs, abdomen, and those chicken wing arms (oh...is that just me who has those).
Now...please note, for best results, I use it about three times a week. Then, taper off to once a week. I want to stress that I did not drop tons of weight but that I was able to get into my skinny jeans after a week or two. It was a very gradual process. I lost about one inch from my thighs, two inches from my waist, and a bit from some other areas. It doesn't seem like a lot but it did make a difference. I still continue my wrapping and, as always, a healthy diet.
Here are the instructions for a slimming weight loss wrap. Feel free to add essential oils to the wrap to assist with stress, relaxation, or other ailments.
- 1/8 cup coconut oil (any white lotion will work) amount varies depending on what you use. Just make it a creamy consistency with a bit of stability.
- 1/4 cup of sea salt
- 2 green tea bags (broken and mixed in)
- ace bandage
- saran wrap
- 8 ounces of water (to drink!)
Why These Ingredients?
Coconut oil is well known for its healing properties so it is a natural fit for any lotion or potion that will be absorbed by the skin. IF you do not have any handy, simply use olive oil or a white lotion. I am a firm believer that your skin is a conductor, not a barrier so try to find an organic option!
The salt is absorbed by the body and used to begin the body's process of purging extra water.
Green tea is well known for its slimming benefits and the natural caffeine helps to fight cellulite so it is a win-win!
- Simply add the salt, green tea, and coconut oil together. You will not need much coconut oil! A little goes a long way! if using a white lotion, try using a touch more.
- Drink an eight-ounce glass of water
- I like to warm the area and open the pores. Try a hot shower or warm wet cloths.
- Massage your scrub into areas needing treatment.
- Wrap your trouble areas with saran wrap.
- Next, wrap the areas with the ace bandage to hold the saran wrap in place. A girdle helps to hold this in place if you have one :)
- Stay wrapped for at least two hours - I do it at night before I go to bed and sleep wrapped.
Now that you are wrapped, sit back and relax or do some light activity. I suggest drinking water while you are wrapped as it seems to boost the effectiveness. If you are going to do some light activity try normal housework or light cardio. Do not go crazy! I will say that the more body heat you create, the more results you will see.
