Alyssa has a passion for fitness and sharing her favorite tips and tricks with the world. Alyssa is a wife, mom, and coffee enthusiast.

Everyone has a story about how they discovered their passion for fitness. I flirted with yoga and running in high school. A few years later, I dedicated myself to a half-hour of Pilates every day after work. When I got pregnant, I felt so sick that exercise was the last thing on my mind. During my third trimester, I fell prey to exciting infomercials touting fun and effective exercise equipment and programs. I knew I didn't want to be the mom who used my son as an excuse for being out of shape.

After my doctor cleared me to exercise, I hopped on the fitness bandwagon. I enjoyed experimenting with different programs at home and working out at the gym. My favorite cardio machine was the elliptical, and I ended up purchasing a Gazelle so that I could have an affordable dupe right at home.

My fitness routine has evolved over the years. For over a decade, I've been working out at home, taking advantage of various resources available to make that happen. Now that I'm in my 30s, I've learned what works best for my body and my goals. One resource I continue to utilize is YouTube. There is no shortage of fitness channels, and there seems to be one to suit everyone's tastes.

The following six channels are the ones I've continued to gravitate toward for the past few years. Not only do these people give out quality information, but they do so in a way that is entertaining and inspires me to continue reaching my goals. I've also included two of my favorite channels for uplifting and fun dance workouts.

1. Greg Doucette

Over the summer, I came across one of Greg's videos. From the first word he uttered, I was reminded of one of my favorite Disney characters, Iago. I wondered if what I was seeing and hearing added up. Was this actually Gilbert Gottfried in disguise? Spoiler alert, it wasn't, but I was hooked on Greg's videos. He offers valuable information about nutrition and exercise in an entertaining way. More than that, he's actually qualified to do so.

Greg is highly educated and has a lot of experience in the fitness world. While he does sell training programs and two cookbooks, his videos offer common-sense advice about achieving real-world goals. He doesn't tell you to give up the foods you love, like pizza and ice cream. Instead, he invites you to find ways to make them less calorie dense. He encourages everyone to find exercises that they enjoy, and if you don't enjoy something, find a way to make it enjoyable.

I think of Greg as a cool dad or uncle, offering realistic advice and occasionally hollering at you when you've messed up, but always having your best interest at heart. Everyone can benefit from watching his videos.

2. The Studio by Jamie Kinkeade

I have always loved dancing. I took lessons when I was a little girl and then again in college. Nowadays, I enjoy turning up my '90s jams and dancing around the house, much to the embarrassment of my teenager. Dancing is in my blood, and I find myself gravitating toward dancer-inspired workouts. This is what led me to discover Jamie Kinkeade.

Her channel is full of dance workouts, some just for fun and others to help motivate you. You don't have to be a dancer to enjoy them; Jamie makes it easy for everyone to follow along. In addition to dance, there are also videos devoted to strength and toning. Her studio team is amazing, and after every workout, I find myself smiling and feeling good. Doing one of her exercise videos feels like working out with your best friends. Check out The Studio by Jamie Kinkeade to see for yourself!

3. Kyra Pro

I love Kyra for the same reasons stated above. Basically, I just want to dance! Kyra has a variety of videos available on her channel, from dancing to show tunes or popular songs to completing strength and toning work. There's always a little warm-up before each workout, as well as a cool-down afterward.

Kyra's energy is infectious! Even during the toughest moves, she's smiling and encouraging you to keep moving. Her workouts are always short and sweet, perfect for busy lifestyles. If you want to feel good and work up a sweat, give her channel a try!

4. Athlean-X

I found Athlean-X years ago when I was dealing with a reoccurring shoulder injury. I wanted to get back to the basics, focusing on physical therapy and good form. Jeff Cavalier is a physical therapist and a personal trainer with impressive credentials. While his channel is geared toward men, the information and advice he offers are valuable for everyone.

Whenever I have an issue, or I'm looking for preventative options, I seek out Jeff's channel. He has a variety of videos available and what I love most is how he explains the science and physiology behind it all. This is a channel everyone needs to be watching!

If you're looking for workouts tailored specifically to women, Athlean-X has a sister channel, Athlean-XX for Women. The trainers are all ladies who offer amazing and challenging workouts to meet any goal.

5. My Thoughts Will Probably Offend You: Michelle McDaniel

I've been a Michelle McDaniel fan for a few years now. I absolutely love her channel! She's down to earth, funny, and has an adorable pug named Yoshi. Michelle is a personal trainer, and while she often uses clickbait titles, if you take the time to watch the videos, you'll soon realize she offers intelligent commentary and valuable information.

Two years ago, I was struggling with my goals. Despite exercising every day, I just couldn't seem to lose the weight. Michelle helped me realize that I needed to get serious about my nutrition. Since following her advice, I've lost the weight and have almost reached my personal goal. In addition to fitness content, Michelle has a variety of videos that are entertaining and fun. I always look forward to when she uploads.

Whether you go to the gym, work out at home, or are just in need of a good chuckle, Simon has you covered. Check out his channel to see for yourself.

It is terrific that you have found so many videos on YouTube that meet your needs, Alyssa. I have learned so much through their videos on numerous topics.

You get to exercise in your home doing exactly what you enjoy the most. That is terrific. This is a great article about those benefits. Thank you.

There's not much chance I'll be doing this lol but it's a good reference. I'll pass it on to my wife; she's much more likely to take advantage of these channels.

I hope this finds you well. Have a great week!
