Health Benefits of Apples

If you're asked to name a well-known and very healthy kind of fruit, what would it be? Even though they are often overlooked by many, apples are still extremely good for our health and should be a part of our daily diet.

This page explains in a very simple way why we should eat this great fruit every day and use its benefits to boost our immune system.

Five Sentences About Apples

1. An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

Many people believe that the apple fruit comes straight from Heaven. As such, it has been a symbol of eternal youth since who knows when. An old Celtic legend says that anyone who eats an apple from the magic garden will neither ever be hungry, thirsty, ill, nor will he ever get old. Also some time around then, an old English saying became famous: "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." Even nowadays, it's still a very well known phrase and is often the first sentence about apple fruit most people know:

How many apples do you eat per day?

2. Apples Are Rich in Vitamins and Minerals

So, what's so special about apples? What are its health benefits exactly?

Although some other types of fruits contain more vitamin C, the magical efficiency of apples lies in their optimal combination of vitamin C and other substances. It contains a ton of health-boosting agents, such as vitamins C, A, B1, B2, B6, and calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, and iron. On top of that, they contain the highest level of pectin among fruits — an extremely valuable compound that is being more researched these days for its huge medical benefits.

This powerful army of common apple ingredients is extremely efficient in protecting and stimulating our immune system. This "cocktail" is the best body defense from to protect you from viruses, bacterias, and free radicals.

3. Apples Are Great for Our Teeth

Apples are full of calcium and phosphorus — two true wizards when it comes to dental care. They are the two most important minerals our teeth are made of. They're also responsible for the strength of dental enamel. Once this starts wearing down, it causes caries, which is the first sign of teeth deterioration.

So, eat apples every day and maintain a solid structure of your teeth.

4. Apples Are Rich in Dietary Fibers

Due to its high level of potassium and fibers, this fruit helps in two ways during the weight loss process:

  1. It stimulates the elimination of excess liquid out of the body.
  2. Eating them produces a feeling of satiety, thus reducing your appetite (because of the fibers swelling in the stomach).

Apples are an inevitable part of every weight loss (control) diet.

5. Apples Are Great Energy Boosters

Even if it's sweet, apple is actually composed of up to 90% water. So, it's perfect for dealing with thirst, especially after a workout.

Additionally, it contains fructose and glucose, which are two important carbohydrates that supply our body with energy that simultaneously prevent fatigue and helps keep you more focused. So, not only is it great compensation for the people undergoing physical efforts, but for students or anyone who is under a mental stress.

Eat apples to stay fit and to study more easily!

Bottom Line:

People today tend to eat food made of questionable or really bad ingredients. Consequently, their digestive system suffers because it needs much more digestive juices to process such food. (Bloating, gas, and stomach pain are main symptoms of such imbalance.) Thanks to its alkali impact and high level of fibers, apples are perfect for a fast and safe detoxification and for regaining balance of digestive system.

Apples for Our Children

In today's world of fast food corners, instant home cooking, and artificial flavors teaching your child what to eat can sometimes be a real challenge. That's why it's important to always have around valuable assistants most kids like — apple is one of them. They come in varying levels of sweetness, depending on your child's taste. They also don't cost much and are easy to include in a daily lunch box. Once you teach your child to eat an apple or two a day, you'll open their mind to a habit of eating fruits in general. Instead of candies, of course. :)

I picked the first batch of apples for this year off the tree a couple days ago. They are still small but oh so delicious. This year they haven't gotten as large as they generally do so we are waiting another couple weeks to pick the apples. I am so anxious because I love having our own organic grown apples - and yes - I do eat them for health.
